Mattie Spires Dawson Adams

Mattie Spires Dawson Adams was born March 14, 1941 in Maury County, the daughter of the late James Homer Spires and Maggie Pearl Pollion Spires. Mattie was retired as a Nursing Tech at Rosewood Manor. She loved playing bingo and raising flowers. She was loved and adored by her children and grandchildren and they remarked that she was a great cook. Mattie was a member of the Baptist church.

Survivors include her children, Donald "Mouchie" Tina Hay of Duck River, Brenda James Germann of Culleoka and Tim Paschall of Culleoka, whom she thought of as a son; grandchildren, Rhonda Hay Pitts, Derrick Hay, Chance Hay, Kayla Paschall, Ashley Hay Mills, and Daniel Hay Yancey; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Doris Glenn Grooms of Culleoka and Marcie Wayne Keathley of Nashville; one brother, James Ellen Spires of Culleoka; three step-sons, Mark Dawson, Mike Dawson and David Dawson along with her beloved dog, Boots. In addition to her parents, Mattie was preceded in death by siblings, J.P. Spires, Mary Nelson, Pauline Pierce, O'ella Collins, Marie Pierce, Harold Spires, 3 nephews and 3 nieces.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 1:00 P.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Danny Glenn Grooms officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.

The family will visit with friends on Wednesday from 4:00 -8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Glenn Grooms, Larry Pierce, James Harold Spires, Christopher Spires, Morris McNeese and Wendell Pierce.
