Mrs. Mattie Brown Davis Church, age 89, resident of Foster Chapel Road in Columbia, passed away Saturday, August 14, 2010 at Hidden Acres Nursing Home following an extended illness.
Funeral services for Mrs. Church will be conducted at 3:00 P.M. on Monday, August 16, 2010 in the chapel of the Williams Funeral Home of Columbia with Rick Points officiating. Interment will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 P.M. until 6 P.M. on Sunday at the funeral home.
Born February 9, 1921 in Maury County, she was the daughter of the late Lon Shaddon and Ruth Porter Baker Davis. She was the wife of the late Russell Church. In her early life, she worked at Odom's Restaurant. She enjoyed sewing and working with her flowers. She was of the Church of Christ faith.
She is survived by a daughter, Donna Fay Church of Cross Bridges; three sisters, Frances Stutts and Betty Jean Slaughter both of Columbia and Philis Thomason of Mt. Pleasant; two brothers, Jimmy Lon Davis of Summertown and Ronnie Lee Davis of Woodbury; two granddaughter, Stacey Bryant and Haley both of Columbia; a step-granddaughter, Lisa Church of Columbia; a step-grandson, Russell Church, Jr. of North Carolina; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
