Mary Pauline Pollock Johnston

Mrs. Mary Pauline Pollock Johnston, 93, a resident of Columbia since 1977, residing at The Bridge for the past year, passed away Saturday, June 3, 2006.

Funeral services for Mrs. Johnston will be conducted Saturday, June 10, 2006 at 10:30 am at the Graymere Church of Christ with Bro. Wendell Robinson and Bro. John Vaughan officiating. Burial will be in the Swiss Cemetery in Hohenwald. The family will visit with friends from 4:00 until 8:00 pm Friday at the Williams Funeral Home in Columbia and at Graymere Church of Christ from 9:00 am to service time Saturday.

Born in Hohenwald, TN, she was the daughter of the late William W. and Maggie Allison Pollock and wife of the late Brown Arnold Johnston, whom she retired with from Michigan to Columbia in 1977. She started her teaching career in a one room school house Lewis County in 1931 and retired from teaching in Michigan in 1975. She attended Murfreesboro State Teachers College in Murfreesboro, TN and graduated from Wayne State University in Michigan. She was a devoted member of Graymere Church of Christ, a member of the D.A.R., member of both the TN and MI Teachers Associations. Since her retirement, she was a member of the Maury Regional Hospital Auxiliary for 17 years with almost 5, 000 hours in service.

She is survived by a daughter, Mary brown John M. Carpenter of Pentwater, MI; grandson, Charles Aaron Carpenter of Mt. Pleasant, MI; sisters-in-law, Winnie J. Baker of Columbia and Katie Sue Johnston of Hohenwald; nieces and nephews, Fred Nancy Pollock of Warren, MI, Dorothy Tucker of Cincinnati, OH, Eddie Joy Pollock of Harrison, OH, Edna Donnie Beaty of Nashville, Ann Roberts of Huntsville, AL, Gerry Lee Jack Mills of London, KY, Sonja Jimmy Reeves of Ardmore, OK, Terry Becky Baker of Decatur, Al, Bobby Pollock, Ernestine Arelus Dye, Wilda Frankie Lawson and Jimmie Kay Mac McCarthy, all of Hohenwald, Danny Martha Johnston and David Pat Johnston, both of Ardmore, AL. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Ernest Pollock.

Pallbearers will be nephews and great nephews.
