Mary Lee Bell Harlan

December 26, 1927 — May 11, 2003

Mrs. Mary Lee Bell Harlan, 75, a resident of Roberts Bend Rd. in Columbia, died Sunday, May 11, 2003 at Life Care Center.

Funeral services for Mrs. Harlan will be conducted Tuesday, May 13, 2003 at 11:00 A.M. at the Mt. Nebo United Methodist Church with Reverend Larry McGranahan officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Nebo Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 5:00 until 9:00 P.M. at the Williams Columbia Funeral Home and after 10:00 A.M. Tuesday at the church.

The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Will Lewis and Nora Primm Chamberlain Bell and the wife of W.M. "Bill" Harlan of Columbia. She was a homemaker and a former employee of Dixie Manufacturing Company and a 73-year member of the Mt. Nebo United Methodist Church in which she was a member of the UMW. Mrs. Harlan was a member of the Sawdust Home Demonstration Club and was past president of the County Council of Home Demonstration Clubs.

In additon to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Pam Don Thurman and Pattie Gary Holt both of Columbia; a son, Ken Harlan of Memphis; five sisters, Virginia Tallent, Billie Kincaid, Barbara Frank Thomas of Columbia, Lounora Jimmy Grimmett of Sawdust Community, Jane Bell Jones of Mt. Pleasant; two brothers, James Thomas Bell and Joe Lynn Bell of Columbia; six grandchildren, Kimberly Thurman, Brian Holt, Steven Holt all of Columbia, TN, Kyle Thurman, Hunter Harlan and Haley Harlan all of Memphis, TN; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, L.C. Bell.

Pallbearers will be Kyle Thurman, Brian Holt, Steven Holt, Garrick Jones, Jeffery Kincaid, Robert Tallent, and Michael Kincaid. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Mt. Nebo United Methodist Church, Nurses and staff of Third Floor Oncology Department at Maury Regional Hospital, Nurses and Staff of Life Care Center, Dr. Shawn Gentry and Dr. Jamie Slandzicki and staff, staff of Columbia Oncology, Byron Jones, Steven Thomas, Stan Bell, Kent Bell, Tim Bell, Allen Kincaid, Buddy Harlan, Harlan Dabney, and Gregg Dabney.
