Mary Ellen Goats Thomason

Mrs. Mary Ellen Thomason, 77, a resident of E. 13th Street in Columbia, passed away Sunday, August 27, 2006 at Rosewood Manor.

Services for Mrs. Thomason will be conducted Wednesday, August 30, 2006 at 11:00 am at the Highland Ave. Church of God in Columbia with Darryl Bewley and James Effler officiating. Burial will be in the Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at the Williams Funeral Home in Columbia and Wednesday from 10:00 am until service time at the church.

Born in Giles County, she was the daughter of the late Leroy and Effie Mae Beets Goats and wife of the late Leonard E. Thomason. She was a seamstress for Weather Tamer, a devoted mother, a homemaker and a member of the Highland Ave. Church of God.

She is survived by her daughter, Beverly Eddie Stewart of Columbia; sons, Gary Lynn Woodard of Spring Hill and Leonard E. Jackie Thomason, Jr. of Columbia; sisters, Joyce Bob Brooks of Athens, AL, Imogene Casteel of Simpsonville, SC and Ruth Herbert Sprouse of Pulaski; grandchildren, Jamie Billy Browning, Jeremy Tiffany Woodard, Lauren Thomason, Tony Thomason, Chan Sneed and Haley Vis, all of Columbia; great grandchildren, Jordan Lovett and Kaitlyn Browning, both of Columbia; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Leroy Goats and Lloyd Goats; three sisters, Lorraine Schultz, Clarice Payne and Leda McGee.

Pallbearers will be Jeremy Woodard, Tony Thomason, Steve Anderson, Jerry Baggett, Jerry Bolton and Eddie Stewart. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of Highland Church of God.
