Mary Anne Jackson Woods, age 86, of Columbia, passed away on Monday, April 4, 2016, at her residence.
Anne was born May 27, 1929 in Nashville, TN, the daughter of the late Benjamin Scott Jackson and Annie Sturdivant Jackson. She was married to the late William Clyde Woods for 67 years before his passing. She had worked as a seamstress in a clothing factory and was a devoted member of the Highland Park Baptist Church.
Anne was an avid Tennessee Lady Vols and Vols basketball fan. As was fitting for her, with her passion for Atlanta Braves baseball, she went to be with the Lord on opening day of baseball season and had the best seat in the house for the game. She loved to shop and spent much time shopping with her friends. She learned to love reading later in life and loved reading books on her Nook, whether it was her Bible or reading for fun. She believed in family first and her focus was on others. She was generous to a fault.
Funeral services for Anne will be conducted Friday at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Pastor Mark Proctor and Rev. Wilson Henderson officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends on Thursday from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
