Mary Scott Friend

Mrs. Mary Scott Friend, age 55, resident of Scott Hollow Road in Culleoka, passed away Monday, January 19, at Maury Regional Medical Center.

A memorial service for Mrs. Friend will be conducted 7:00 PM Thursday in the Faith Hall of First Baptist Church in Columbia with Rev. Pete Tackett and Rev. Billy Kimbrough officiating.

The family will receive friends Thursday at the church prior to and after the service.

Williams Funeral Home of Columbia is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Shreveport, LA, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Elizabeth Roberts Scott and the wife of William "Bill" Friend. She was retired from the Louisiana DMV. Those who knew Mary loved her well. She was very active in the Westwood Baptist Church in Keithville, LA. She enjoyed writing, photography, crafting and playing the piano. While she never performed in public, she was the inspiration for her daughter, Jennifer's singing and song writing carrier. She loved putting others first and spent much time praying for her family and friends.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter: Jennifer Elizabeth Friend of Nashville; sisters: Betty Winter Case of Stonewall, LA, Sue John Goulf of Houston, TX and Judy Johnny Jeans of Bazille, LA; brothers: Robert Scott of Houston, TX and Jimmy Scott, both of Houston, TX, David Susie Scott of Ft. Worth, TX and John Scott of Louisiana; special brothers-in-law Steve and Terry Acord and many nieces and nephews.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Moore's Sunday School Class, Gary Beatty's Sunday School Class, Kimball Maynard's Sunday School Class, Don Brewer's Sunday School Class and the Westwood Baptist Church in Keithville, LA.
