Mary J. Runions, age 87, Columbia resident, passed away on Monday, September 30, 2019, at her residence.
Mary was born May 2, 1932, in Columbia, the daughter of the late Walter Edward Pruitt and Sherman Churchwell Pruitt. She married Finandal Runions on March 18, 1950 and was a loving a devoted wife until his passing on August 25, 1998.
Mary was a dedicated Christian and devoted member of the Mooresville Pike Church of Christ and loved reading her Bible. She had such a green thumb and loved working in her flowers. Mary loved and cared for her family and enjoyed cooking for them whenever she could.
Survivors include her son, Mark Runions of Columbia; two grandsons, Matthew Runions of Knoxville and Seth Chalmers of Los Angeles, CA, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one grandson, Geoffrey Oliver; sisters, Mildred Turner, June King and Nancy Landry; brothers, Walter Edward “Pete’ Pruitt, Jr., Harold Vernon Pruitt, Ralph Pruitt and Billy Harrison Pruitt.
Graveside services will be conducted Thursday, October 3, at 2:00 P.M. at Polk Memorial Gardens with Bro. Randy Sprouse officiating. The family will visit with friends on Thursday from 12:00 Noon until service time at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia.
Pallbearers will be Jackie Sprouse, Brandon Sprouse, Billy Pruitt, Ronnie Smith, Corey Harrington and Dustin Harrington. Honorary pallbearers will be Jason Sprouse and members of the Mooresville Pike Church of Christ.
