Mary Jo Harris

March 24, 1931 — November 27, 2008

Mary Jo Harris of Mt. Pleasant was born on March 24, 1931 and passed peacefully into Heaven on Thanksgiving Day, November 27, 2008. Mary Jo left behind 77 years of memories for her family and friends. She loved deeply, laughed loudly, and welcomed all who enjoyed the comfort of her home. All who knew her enjoyed her feisty and unfiltered sense of humor, her joy of cooking, her love of animals, and her generosity of spirit. Thanksgiving Day had special meaning for Mary Jo due to her love of family and appreciation of her own blessings. The holiday will have new meaning for those who will celebrate her life each time they remember her warmth and laughter.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, James Norman Harris; her parents Clara Murphy and Oscar Hardy; her brother Kenneth Hardy; her sisters, Charlotte Fields, Carolyn Skillern and Wanda Weathers; and her beloved grandson, Nathan "L.W." Harris. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Cheryl Jones Larry, Jerry Brown Debbie, Pam Dugger Tommy, and Steve Harris Debbie W.; her sister Marilyn Palmore Paul and her brother Randall Hardy Joyce; and her cousin Oveda Fleming. She was dearly loved by her grandchildren, Tamyra, Tim, Lindsay, Ashley, Kyle, Carrie Eric, and Jesse. She was also the proud great-grandmother to Gavin Colie, Zach, and Reese; and two great-great- granddaughters, Candace and Carleigh. She also cared deeply for the many nieces and nephews that were part of her extended family.

Visitation will be on Saturday from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. Service will be on Sunday at 2:00 P.M.
