Mary Dolly Jernigan

Mrs. Mary Dolly Akins Jernigan passed away on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at her home in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee.

Mrs. Jernigan was born on August 27, 1944 in Maury County, Tennessee and was the daughter of the late Elmer Howell and the late Peggy Haudy Lee Graham. She dearly loved and was married to Harold Tom Jernigan, whom she wed on July 15, 1990.

Dolly was the editor of the Mt. Pleasant Record and a lifetime member of the Mt. Pleasant Jaycees. She was a member of the Main Street Church of Christ.

In addition to her husband she is survived by her children: Larry (Shandi) Akins, Kimberly (Wendall) Holder, Jerry (Brandy) Jernigan and Amy (Gerald) Hargrove; grandchildren: Ben, Bethany and Beverly Orban, Willard, Whitny and Willa Akins, Tori Lawson, Ty, Cade, Rylin and Ada Jernigan and Charlotte, Clara and Patrick Hargrove; her siblings: Jim (Paulette) Howell, Ray (Janie) Howell, Barbara Clark, Betty (Jerry) Hendrix and Danny (Cindy) Howell; her precious mother-in-law: Betty Jernigan and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father-in-law: Harold Jernigan; sister and brother-in-law: Lillie and Joe Akins; sister: Norma (Sam) Akins; and the father of her children: Kenneth “Popeye” Akins.

Funeral services for Mrs. Jernigan will be conducted on Friday, December 21, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Stephen Kelley officiating. Burial will follow in the Pisgah Cemetery. The family will visit with friends on Thursday, December 20 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Pallbearers will be nephews: Todd Howell, “Bullet” Howell, Ted Howell, Douglas Akins, Donnie Akins, Paul Howell, Rodney Dunn, Michael Clark, Charlie Ray Howell, Adam Akins, Gary Akins, Carl Akins, David Akins, Huston Jernigan and Jake Jernigan.
