Mary Hazel Grimes

Mrs. Mary Hazel Johnson Grimes, age 93, a resident of Cheyenne Trail in Columbia, passed away on Monday, May 5, 2008, in Maury Regional Hospital.
Funeral services for Mrs. Grimes will be conducted Friday at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Bro. Rick Points and Bro. Allen Lancaster officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens.
The family will visit with friends on Thursday from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
The Kenton, TN, native was the daughter of the late William Frierson Johnson and Lilliebelle Whitaker Johnson. She was the wife of the late H. D. Grimes who preceded her in death on October 13, 1997. Mrs. Grimes was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her children: Mary Jo Pedigo of Houston, TX, Barbara Hodge of Columbia, Linda Everette Martin of Columbia, Hilda Hunnicutt of Culleoka, Catherine Robert Warf of New Orleans, LA, James W. Donna Grimes of Fairfield Glade, Daniel Grimes of Mt. Airy, NC, Derl Grimes of Melbourne, FL and Tony Jenny Grimes of Franklin; grandchildren: Kathy Douglass, Dana Kenny Lovell of Columbia, Stephanie Wesley Orr-Buttrey of Hermitage, Kristy Grimes of Melbourne, FL, Kip Stephanie Lindsey of Williamsport, Mac Hodge of Williamsport, Ryan Mark Blake of McMinnville, William Scooter Ellis of Columbia, Lori Allen Lancaster of Williamsport, Daniel Ellis of Columbia, Scott Trish Martin of Columbia, Angel Steve Rogers of Bahama, NC, Jason Martin of Belleville, IL, Amber Roger Smith of Columbia, IL, Todd Prince of Columbia, Damien Holly Prince of Columbia, Seth Hunnicutt of LaVergne and Ansley John Stanfill of Valley Park, MO; 11 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two daughters: Willie Yvonne Grimes and Delores Grimes Ellis.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
