Mary Elizabeth Gibson

Mary "Betty" Elizabeth Cothran Gibson age 86, passed away surrounded by family at her Home in Mt. Pleasant, TN Sunday, December 20, 2020. She was born in Maury County, TN to the late Elbert Cothran and Nelsie Carroll.

Betty has always been a person with a big heart. To say she was caring is an understatement, and it didn't matter whether she knew someone or not, strangers weren't strangers for long around Betty. She loved the Lord and her church family. She was a devout Christian woman and very much guided by her faith. Her faith played such a powerful role in the way that she lived her life, she preached her own funeral through her choices to glorify God. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, she loved her family more than anything, and she let them know it, either through the best hugs or a gift of some kind, no one left Betty's empty-handed. Betty lived a good life and set a fine example for those around her. Her constant smile and loving nature will be dearly missed by all those that knew her.

Betty is survived by her children: Jeffrey (Sandra) Gibson and Jenny Cothran; grandchildren: J.J. (Erin) Gibson, Sarah (Chris) Bennett, Lindsey Gibson, Luke (Bobbie) Cothran, Matt Cothran, Caleb (Tatum Hardin) Gibson, Logan (Holland Martin) Gibson, and Ember Gibson; 12 great-grandchildren; and brother: Eddie Wayne Cothran; and her great grand puppies Estes, Princess, and Milo the cat.Betty is preceded in death by her husband Howard L. Gibson and son William “Will” Gibson.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 23, 2020, at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Lyndall Propst and Dustin Laster officiating. The family will visit with friends from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.

Honorary pallbearers are the members of Hampshire First Baptist Church.
