Mrs. Mary Evie Watson, 93, former resident of Morris Avenue in Columbia, passed away Saturday, November 12 at NHC/Columbia.
Born June 22, 1918 in Lawrence County, daughter of the late Linwood and Mamie Simon Mantlo and the wife of the late Herbert Watson, whom she married on August 10, 1935 and preceded her in death in December, 1960. She retired from Dixie Manufacturing as a seamstress and a member of Cool Springs Baptist Church.
Left to cherish her loving memories are her sons: Ray Charlotte Watson of Lawrenceburg, James Ann Watson of Columbia and Stanley Barbara Watson of Franklin; sister: Mattie Daniels of Gainesville, FL; brother: Pete Mantlo of California; 9 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons: Charles Henry Watson and Tony Lynn Watson.
Funeral services for Mrs. Watson will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, November 15, 2011 in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Larry Tarkington officiating. Burial will follow in the Arlington Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant. The family will visit with friends 4:00 to 7:00 PM Monday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be the former employees of Washington Manufacturing.
