Mary Elizabeth Pitts

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Kincaid Pitts, age 84, a longtime resident of NHC/Columbia in Columbia, passed away March 13th .

Funeral services for Mrs. Pitts will be conducted Monday at 10:00 AM at the St. Luke United Methodist Church in Columbia with Bro. Hugh Cunningham officiating. Burial will follow in the Polk Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the Williams Funeral Home in Columbia.
Born April 2, 1925 in Maury County, Mary was the daughter of the late Otha Foster "O.F." Kincaid and Mamie Winchester Kincaid . She was the wife of Edward L. Pitts who died in 1984. She was a graduate of Spring Hill High School. Mary was always a loving wife, mother and grandmother. In her early years she worked at Riverside Cafeteria and the Lemon Tree. Mary was a charter member of St. Luke United Methodist Church and longtime member of the women's group. She was very active, as long as her health permitted. She loved all of her family, many friends, music, singing and dancing. She had a gifted ability to raise beautiful roses.

Mary is survived by two sons: Kenneth "Theresa" Pitts of Columbia and Ronnie "Tammie" Pitts of Hampshire; daughter-in-law; Kaye Pitts of Columbia. Grandchildren: Ricky Primm, Beth Benefield, Ben Pitts, Brooke Nixon, Allison Underwood, Amy Gardner and Kyle Pitts; five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Ann Pitts; a son, Cecil Pitts, one sister, Willie Yancey and one brother, Otha Lee Kincaid.

Pallbearers will be Cecil Conner, Andy Neal, Ed Estes, Jeff Estes, Tommy Haskins, Ed Lucas, Bobby Joe Haywood, Jr. and Jim Carpenter.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Pete Harlan Sunday School Class, Sandra Haywood "special friend" and David and Mary Neil Wise.
