Mary Edith Mcmilan Yeager

Mary Edith McMillan Yeager, 99, peacefully passed away on Friday, January 20, 2012 at NHC Hillview in Columbia, TN.
Mary was born in Mt. Sterling, Iowa to Charles J. and Effie Henry McMillan on June 13, 1912. She attended Birmingham High School, Birmingham, Iowa and graduated from St. Joseph's School of Nursing, Ottumwa, Iowa in 1935. She was extremely proud of her profession as an RN.
On December 25, 1937, she married Donald W. Yeager in Eldon, Iowa. In 1953 they moved to Ft. Dodge, Iowa where she was employed at both Mercy and Lutheran Hospitals as a nursery nurse where she cared for sick babies who later, thriving, came back to thank her for her good cure.
Following Donald's death in 1988, Mary moved to Columbia to be near her daughter where she enjoyed many activities. She loved her family, traveling, gardening, and crafts.
She is survived by her daughter, Sue Ed Halsted of Columbia, TN and her son Donald Leslie Yeager of Advance, N.C.; six grandchildren, four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers Neal McMillan and Dale McMillan and a sister, Georgia McMillan Davis.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Columbia, TN and the Maury Regional Hospital Auxillary.
A private family service will be held at a later date in Milton, Iowa.
