Mary Christine "Chris" Malugin Burgett, age 63, a resident of South Main Street in Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Monday, April 19, at her residence.
Memorial services for Mrs. Burgett will be conducted Friday, April 23rd at 4:00 P.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Brother Wendell Jump officiating.
The family will receive friends Friday from 2:00 PM until service time at the funeral Home.
Born June 30, 1946 in San Francisco, CA, Chris was the daughter of the late Helen Virginia Vick Ashley and step-father Charles Love Ashley and father, James Robert Malugin, Jr. She attended Beauty School and worked as a beautician, also was a waitress in many restaurants. Chris was of the Baptist Faith.
Survivors include her companion: Billy Staggs of Mt. Pleasant; a son: Billy Riggins of Columbia; sisters and brother: Wayne Dottie Malugin of Lewisburg, Shirley Bobby Fox of Columbia and Patricia Grady Jackson of Indiana; daughter-in-law: Laverne Cowperthwaite of Oklahoma City, OK; two grandsons: Todd Riggins of Wichita, KS and Joey Riggins Oklahoma City, OK; father of her children: Charles Edward "Buddy' Riggins; special friends: Wendy Jon Harmon of Columbia, Brandy Bob Kilmon-James of Mt. Pleasant and Julie Philip Hill of Santa Fe; God son: Steven Wiley of Columbia. She was preceded in death by one son: Charles Edward "Eddie" Riggins, Jr.
