Mr. Marvin A. Escue, 64, a resident of Estes Lane in Columbia, passed away Saturday, May 7, 2011 at Maury Regional Medical Center.
Born September 20, 1946 in Giles County, son of the late Albert and Haughty Francis Escue and the husband of Doris Bates Escue. Marvin and Doris were married for 42 years. He retired from Kernie Cothran Well Drilling Company after 43 years. Marvin had a heart for helping people. Marvin lovely wife and precious daughter Kandi said he would help anyone whether it was electrical, carpenter, plumbing or mechanic work, he could never say no when it came to helping people. One of Marvin s enjoyment in life was watching Nascar racing. He assisted drilling the well for new Arbors at Polk Memorial Gardens. He was so excited about the development of the Arbors that he would take Doris to Polk Memorial and show her the work that he helped do.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Escue is survived by a daughter: Kandi Andrew Hardison of Columbia; a granddaughter: Kayla Rose Hardison of Columbia; one sister: Nell Smith of Columbia and a sister-in-law: Lona Escue of Columbia. He was preceded in death by a brother, Ray Earl Escue, a sister, Mary Page and a brother-in-law, Charles Smith.
Funeral services for Mr. Escue will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, May 10, 2011 in the chapel of Williams Funeral in Columbia with Rick Points officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens with the committal service conducted in the Arbors with military honors provided by the United States Army.
The family will visit with friends Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Drew Childress, Michael Morton, Terry Holder, Andrew Hardison, Ray Adamson and Jimmy Childress.
Honorary pallbearers will be all employees of Kernie Cothran Well Drilling Company.
