Marvin William Walker

Mr. Marvin William Walker, age 85, a resident of Brace Road in Summertown, passed away on Monday, January 18, at his residence.

Funeral services for Mr. Walker will be conducted Friday at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Jim Ledbetter officiating. Burial will follow in the Brace Cemetery in Lawrence County.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 3:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Born on December 27, 1924 in Lawrence County, Marvin was the son of the late Vestral Walker and Etta Williams Walker. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Frances Key Walker. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WW II. Marvin was the owner and operator of the West Point service station on Trotwood Avenue before his retirement in 1986. Before his sole ownership of the service station, he was partners with Herman Riddle. Marvin was a member of Liberty Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and song director. He loved farming and bush hogging.

Survivors in addition to his wife include his children: Randy Cheryl Walker of Summertown and Donna Farrell Long of Columbia; two brothers: Glenn Walker of Lawrenceburg and Mack Pat Walker of Ethridge; grandchildren: Kendra Shawn Elkins of Columbia, Ben Joey Walker of Utah, Clint Walker and Brett Walker, both of Summertown; great-grandchildren: Tyler Elkins and Torrie Elkins; two sisters-in-law: Peggy Walker and Bobbie Walker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters: Alma Swilley, Gladys Staggs, and three brothers: Lloyd Walker, Odell Walker and Paul Walker.

His grandsons Clint, Brett, Ben Walker, and nephews Lane, Jeff and Tommy Walker will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Liberty Baptist Church.
