Mr. Marvin C. Cox, age 87, a resident of Santa Fe Pike, passed away on Friday, February 20, at Life Care Center in Columbia.
Funeral services for Mr. Cox will be conducted Monday at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Bro. Ricky Clay and Bro. Elmer Lusk officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery with military honors provided by the US Army National Guard.
The family will visit with friends on Sunday from 3:00 – 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
The Burkesville, KY, native was the son of the late Roscoe and Ruth Spears Cox and the husband of Athaleen Beard Cox of Columbia whom he married on October 4, 1947. Mr. Cox was retired from Wright & Lopez Telephone Company where he worked in explosives. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII and member of the East Side Church of Christ.
Survivors in addition to his wife include one son: Marvin C. Sherry Cox, Jr., of Columbia; grandchildren: Bobby Cox and Samantha Cox, both of Columbia; one brother: Roscoe "Rossie" Jane Cox, Jr.; one sister: Lucille Thomas Melton, both of Columbia. He was preceded in death by three brothers: Walter, Stanley and Howard Cox and one sister: Geneva Jaco.
Pallbearers will Donnie Melton, Johnny Cox, Raymond Beard, Lee Hargrove, Randy Norman, Hervie Beard, Joe Hargrove, and Glenn Beard. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Dawson, past employees of Wright & Lopez and members of the East Side Church of Christ.
