Martin "Marty" Leander Johnson Jr

Martin “Marty” Leander Johnson, Jr., age 63, passed away Monday, November 4, 2019 at his home in Mt. Pleasant, TN surrounded by family. Marty was born in Flint, Michigan, September, 23, 1956 to the late Martin Leander Johnson, Sr. and the late Theda Mae Moore.

One could describe Marty as “Wide Open.” He went hard whether that was at work or doing what he loved. Goin’ Fast. He could be found often working on cars, usually the ones that he raced. When he wasn’t on the road he was probably on the water. Only time he would slow down was when he was fishing. Otherwise he was probably flying by on water-skies. Well, One ski..., even after he lost a leg in the late 70’s to a motorcycle accident, that couldn’t stop him from doing whatever he wanted whether that was water skiing or running. Most of all he loved his family. He imparted his love for motor sports and adrenaline to his son and grandchildren. Marty is dearly loved by his family and all that knew him. He will be missed.

Marty is survived by: his wife of 42 years Wanda Johnson; son: Marty (Carol) Johnson; grandchildren: Cody Johnson, Dalton Dye, Martin Russell Johnson (Cassandra McKee), Molly Dye (Donovan Oswalt), and Christian Johnson; beloved Chihuahua: Sissy; Longtime friend: Kenny Mueller; sister: Linda Jones; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

The family is having a private service at a later date.
