Martin Douglas "Doug" Parrish was born December 13, 1929 in Maury County, the son of the late Luther Bishop "Daddy Mac" Parrish and Thelma Parrish. He was married for 60 years to Vivian Mildred Vermeesch Parrish. Doug was the owner and operator of the Parrish Trucking Company and he had a special love for playing his guitar. He was a member of the Colonial Meadows Church for Christ.
In addition to his wife, Vivian, Doug is survived by his children: Larry Douglas Parrish, Linda Marie Craig, Jimmy David Tami Parrish, Ronnie Joe Patricia Parrish, Nancy Rose Steagall, Sally Kenneth Crain and Norma Peden; grandchildren, Dianne Jeff Henson, Marty Parrish, Shannon Mark Campbell, Dustin Craig, Kasey Jason Cox, Cheyenne Tricia Craig, Blair Parrish, Maegan Cody Carroll and Brooke Peden; great-grandchildren, Tara, Destiny, Madison, Ashlyn, Savannah, Lily, Courtland, Brylee, Christian, Nicholas, Ethan, Karleigh and Deanna; brothers and sisters, Charles Edwards Parrish, Margaret Woody Bishop, Emma Jean Chumley and Barbara Gail Edwards. In addition to his parents Doug was preceded in death by one grandson, Trinity Steagall and one sister, Mary Parrish Shelton.
Doug passed away on Friday evening at NHC Columbia.
Funeral services for Mr. Parrish will be conducted Monday at 1:00 P.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Rev. Watson Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Allen Cemetery in Marshall County.
The family will visit with friends on Sunday from 2:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Kenneth Crain, Jason Cox, Marty Parrish, Dustin Craig, Cheyenne Craig and Cody Carroll. Honorary pallbearers will be James Ward, Terry Stewart and all members of the Colonial Meadows Church for Christ.
