Mrs. Martha 'Mott" Cole Sargent, age 91 , a resident of Morningside Lane in Columbia went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, June 19 at NHC/Healthcare.
Funeral services for Mrs. Sargent will be conducted 11:00 AM Monday, June 22, at the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Columbia with Rev. Calvin Lunn and Rev. Steve Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the Polk Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Williams Funeral Home of Columbia and Monday from 10:00 AM until service time at the church.
Born June 9, 1918 in Mt. Pleasant, TN she was the daughter of the late
Ernest Bailey and Eula Stone Cole. She was the widow of Robert "Bob" Sargent. Mott was a retired inspector at Weather Tamer and a member of the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Columbia. In the late 40's and early 50's, she and her loving husband were Owner and Operators of Bob's Café in Columbia. She made the best sweet and sour pickles, preserves and the best baked macaroni and cheese and she and Bob were avid gardeners and preservers. She loved her church and singing in the choir, loved her home, neighbors and Mr. Gray the cat. She enjoyed drinking Dr. Pepper and sweet tea. The special love of her life was her children and grandchildren. She also loved her nieces, Sandra and Sarah. She was a very devoted wife and spoiled her husband.
She is survived by a daughter: Patricia Mike Prior of Casa Grande, AZ; a stepson: Bill Faye Sargent of Columbia; three step-daughters: Joyce O'Neil Moore, Jean Bill Reischman and Sue Billy Clark of Columbia; special nieces: Sandra Raulerson and Sarah Raulerson of Columbia; grandchildren: Frankie Brittingham of Nashville, TN, Dawn Jeff Burr and Kristy George Burgess of Casa Grande, AZ, Terry Angie Sargent and Brenda Tony Seaborn of Columbia, TN, Stephen Moore of Alabama, Marilyn Moore of Franklin, TN, Jennifer Gregory of Culleoka, TN, Michael Krista Reischman of Columbia, Veronica Ronnie Bates of Mt. Pleasant, TN and Robert Wayne Clark of Columbia, TN; 20 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, seven brothers and two grandsons: Mark Reischman and Roger Moore.
Pallbearers will be Steve Moore, Wayne Clark, Terry Sargent, George Burgess, Mike Reischman, Ronnie Bates and Tony Seaborn. Honorary pallbearers will be the men and women of the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Columbia and Dr. William Robinson.
