Martha Elizabeth “Anderson” Barker, 86, of Mount Pleasant passed away on Monday, February 13, 2017 in Niceville, FL. Martha was born on October 30, 1930 to the late John Ervin Anderson and Mary Kathleen Pogue Anderson in Hampshire, TN.
Martha was an avid farmer and enjoyed her farm. She also enjoyed sewing, crocheting, reading, food preservation and gardening. She loved serving her family and friends with amazing food often grown by her and her husband. She was generous with her love and possessions and loved talking with her sisters and friends at every opportunity. She was a lifetime member of Beech Hill Church of Christ.
Martha is survived by her son, Donald Ray (Teresa) Barker; Daughters, Jeanne Lynn (Kerry) Crocker and Tracy Lee (Dan) Shelton; Grandchildren, Brian (Teresa) Barker, Brandy (Mike) King, Brooke (Brandon) Fritz, Shea Crocker, Kasey Crocker, Haley Shelton, and Ethan Shelton; Great Grandchildren, Brendan, Nathan, and Carson Barker, Eli, Lydia, Jeremiah, and Abi King, Elsa and Elin Fritz; Siblings, Mary Sue Voss, Marie Filson, Kay (Rip) Baxter, and Beulah (Donald) Marshall.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James Beverly Barker; Siblings, James Anderson, Alma Jo Grimmit, Charles Anderson, and Samuel Ray Anderson.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, February 17, 2017 at 2:00PM at Williams Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant with Hueston Marshall officiating. Burial will follow at Beech Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends on Thursday, February 16, 2017 from 4:00 to 8:00PM at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Brian Barker, Shea Crocker, Kasey Crocker, Ethan Shelton, Mike King, Brandon Fritz, Sam Savage and Little Rip Baxter. Honorary pallbearers will be George (Butch) Brooks, Gwynn Savage, Jerry Mcknight, Carl Brooks, Heath Mcknight, Ronnie Dinwiddie, Jimmy and Roger Barker, Ed Brooks, Roland Mcknight, Randy Kersey and the members of Beech Hill Church of Christ.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Compassus Hospice as well as Emerald Coast Hospice for their wonderful care and support over the last nine months.
