Marion Gerard "Mac" Olivier, Sr., was born September 10, 1918, in New Orleans, LA, the son of the late Henry Olivier and Rita Baudier Olivier. He was the husband of the late Sidonia Lissard Olivier.
Mac and Sidonia were long time residents of River Ridge, LA and moved to Columbia after Hurricane Katrina to live with family.
In his early years Mac worked in New Orleans with the Time Picayune, EACO Electric, Marine Oil Company, and Whitman, Holloway & Olivier. He retired from McKesson Chemicals New Orleans, as Plant Operations Manager. After retiring, he started painting for a hobby, his lifelong dream. He did volunteer work for East Jefferson Hospital in New Orleans and after moving to Columbia he volunteered for Maury Regional Medical Center. Mac was an active member of St. Matthews Cathholic Church in New Orleans where he was a member of the Usher Society. After moving to Columbia he attended St. Catherine Catholic Church.
Survivors include his children: 3 daughters, Dianne Harold Battaglia of Houston, TX, Carolyn Lawrence Talamo of Prairieville, LA, Toni Mike Brack of River Ridge, LA and 1 son, Marion "Mac" Diane Olivier, Jr,, of Columbia; 13 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren along with a brother, Raymond Cookie Olivier. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Henry J. Olivier, Leslie J. Olivier, Lawrence J. Olivier and his sister, Rita Marie.
A prayer service will be conducted Monday at 7:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Father Davis Chackaleckel officiating. Mr. Mac will be inurned alongside his wife later in the week in New Orleans.
The family will visit with friends on Monday from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
