Marilyn Taylor Lamar, age 76 of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at Maury Regional Medical Center.
Marilyn was born March 31, 1938 in Harriman, Tennessee to the late Beatrice and Spurgeon Taylor. In 1957 she married the love of her life, William Lamar. Marilyn was a hard working devoted wife and mother. She worked at Easy Pay Service Store, Mt. Pleasant Manufacturing, and the Law Office of Gary Howell. She was a charter member at Southside Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant and a member of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, William Lamar; daughter, Pamela (Dennis) Pickering; granddaughters, Kali (Nathan) Richards, Erin (Darren) Dehut, and Leah Pickering; great grandson, William Beckett Richards; siblings, Willomae Hamilton, Geraldine (Carson) Burgess, Joyce (Howard) Scruggs, Wanda (Jimmy) Bean, and Lynn Taylor; and a host of nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Beatrice and Spurgeon Taylor.
The family invites friends to visit on Thursday, August 14, 2014 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, August 15, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with Bro. Jimmy Nave and Bro. Ezell Rose officiating at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Garden of Matthew at Polk Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Gary Howell, Howard Scruggs, Jimmy Bean, JB Lamar, Bobby Joe Fitzgerald, and Taylor Hamilton. Honorary Pallbearers include Owen Moore, John Swanner, and the members of Southside Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made in Marilyn’s honor to Southside Baptist Church.
