Marie Dow

Marie Francis Dow, age 80, went home to be with her Lord, surrounded by family Sunday, April 5, 2020. Marie was born in Mt. Vernon, NY December 18, 1939 to the late Leroy Dow and Gertrude (Rhode) Dow.

Marie was a strong person that was full of kindness and compassion. As a single mother she raised 3 children in New Jersey. She worked for many years as an administrative assistant in the catholic school system in NJ. Before finally she moved with her daughter to Columbia, TN. Some of her greatest passions were her church families, teaching at Vacation Bible School every year, and contributing to the Coat Ministry with Pleasant Heights Baptist in Columbia. She was the kind of person that would give someone the last dime in her pocket, truly selfless and devoted to loving others. She was an incredible mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend and will be dearly missed. What a world there could be, if everyone shared their love like Marie.

Marie is survived by her children: Michael (Guo-Schuping) Roglen, Vanessa Kelly, and Melissa (Glen) Tilghman; grandchildren: Scott (Carissa) Tilghman, Ryan (Paige) Tilghman, Kyle Tilghman, Brittney Tilghman, Christopher Roglen, Aidan Roglen, Brendan Kelly, and Gregory Schwartz; great grandchildren: Jasee Simmons, Kaia Kelly, and Mila Kelly. Marie is preceded in death by her parents, grandson Evan Kelly and sisters Barbara Dow, Ellen Whitt, and brother in law Bucky Whitt.

The family will have a private graveside service April 7, 2020 at Polk Memorial Gardens, with Brother Bob Vassar officiating. A memorial service to be held at a later date.

Special Thanks to the staff of Compassus Hospice, especially: Ellie, Denise, and Missy. Also, to the church families of Pleasant Heights Baptist Church and Shelbyville Mills Baptist Church for all of the prayers and love.
