Mrs. Marie Bryant Harris, age 77, former resident of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Saturday, August 13, 2011 at Hidden Acres Nursing Home.
Born on December 15, 1933 in Lawrence County, she was daughter of the late Buford Evans and Amy Spurgeon Bryant. Marie was the wife of the late Arthur "Chick" Harris. She was a homemaker and was involved in the family business as a bookkeeper with Harris Trucking Company. Marie was a member of the Methodist church.
She is survived by three daughters, Cherri Steve Grooms and Tracy Shaw Daniels both of Mt. Pleasant and Cindy Larry Grooms of Columbia; her grandchildren, Bryan Grooms of Memphis, Elizabeth Grooms, Jay Jessica Grooms, Sara Wayne Lindsey and Will Daniels all of Mt. Pleasant, Rebecca Grooms of Columbia and Kathryn Daniels of Tuscaloosa, AL; great-grandchildren, Sam McConnell, Ben Grooms, Hayden Grooms, Patrick Grooms, Andrew Grooms, Ella Grooms, Myla Lindsey and Jackson Lindsey; sister, Betty Gerald Hassell of Chapel Hill; sister-in-law, Augie Bryant of Spanish Fort, AL and Dorothy J.J. Glass of Lawrenceburg.
Funeral services for Mrs. Harris will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, August 15, 2011 in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with William Owens and Bob Mullenix officiating. Interment will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens
The Harris Family will receive friends from 4-8 P.M. on Sunday at the funeral home.
Active pallbearers will be Bryan Grooms, Jay Grooms, Sam McConnell, Will Daniels, Wayne Lindsey and Stephen Ring. Honorary pallbearers will be Andrew Grooms, Hayden Grooms, Patrick Grooms, Ben Grooms, former employees of Harris Trucking, Tillman Knox, Jeff Knox, Lee Duff, Bill Smith, employees of Hidden Acres Nursing Home, Caris Healthcare and NHC of Coolsprings.
