Maria Julianna Ashton, age 82, of Mt. Pleasant, went to be with her Lord, on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at Signature Healthcare following an extended illness.
Maria was born on May 16, 1933 in Germany to Mr. and Mrs. Otto Gruber. She worked as a clerical assistant in Pennsylvania, her former residence.
She is survived by her children: Dorrie (John) Lightfoot of Mt. Pleasant and William Ashton of Pennsylvania; grandchildren: Kelly Ashton of New York, Lindsay (Ryan) Brainard and Amanda Ashton of Pennsylvania and Noah Lightfoot and David Lightfoot of Mt. Pleasant; and brother: Peter Gruber of Germany. She was preceded in death by her parents: Mr. and Mrs. Otto Gruber; and siblings: Vera Patterson, Rudy Gruber and Dieter Gruber.
The family will visit with friends on Monday, April 4, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia. An inurnment will be held at a later date at Polk Memorial Gardens.
