A well known and much-loved wife, mother and grandmother, Margie A. Nelson, age 76, a resident of South High Street in Columbia, passed away peacefully at NHC Healthcare January 25, 2014 with cherished family by her side.
She was born June 6, 1937 in Alabama to the late Cullin and Prudie Franklin South. In 1963, she married Franklin “Frank” Nelson, the love of her life, and together they shared 47 years until his passing March 14, 2010. "Nanny" as she was affectionately known, loved to cook and always made sure her family was never hungry. Margie’s family will forever miss her hardworking hands, cooking, and love.
While taking care of her family, Margie always found time to read and study the Bible. She was a member of Colonial Meadows Church for Christ and her family will always remember her attendance in the second row with her arm lifted in praise of our Lord and Savior.
The family will visit with friends in the Iris Room of Williams Funeral Home Tuesday, January 28, 2014 from 4:00-8:00 P.M. A celebration of Margie’s life will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Bro. Ronnie Parrish officiating. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum at Polk Memorial Gardens. Following the Entombment, the family will gather in the Blevins Hall at Williams Funeral Home with food, memories, and fellowship with friends.
Mrs. Nelson is survived by her children and their families; Glen (Kristin) Nelson, Donna Kay (Billy) Manier, Ricky (Joy) Nelson all of Columbia; grandchildren: Kayla Crigger DeWire, Wesley (Amber Turner) Crigger, Kristen (Rodney) Benderman, Brandy (Jonathan) Norman, Scotty (Brandi) Nelson, Joey (Dawn) Manier, and Bridgett (Witt) Cook; great grandchildren: Kaylee, Damron, Jordan, Jase, Serenity, Cameron, Austin, Keeley and Abe; her siblings Wanda Brooks and Lonnie South; sister-in-law: Patty South; brother-in-law: Oscar Bradford.

These loved ones that are united again share scripture in Revelation 21:4, “And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away."
Terry Brooks, Danny Brooks, Rodney Benderman, Bill Crigger, Michael Arnold and Jonathan Norman will serve as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be Anthony Bardwell, Rodney DeWire, and the members of Colonial Meadows Church for Christ.
