Margaret America Rector

Margaret America Rector, age 91, a native of Columbia, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Life Care Center of Columbia.

Margaret was born on May 28, 1923 in Columbia, Tennessee to the late Jeff Lee Porter and Annie Mary Hill Porter. She and Odis Thomas Rector married and the two shared a wonderful life together until his passing on April 7, 1983. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Margaret especially enjoyed being with her grandchildren and loved them deeply. She worked as a seamstress at Dixie Manufacturing. Margaret took up the hobbies of sewing and crocheting. She was a faithful and devoted member of Beech Grove Church of Christ. She was a professional yard saler and had a deep fondness for her flowers.

The family will visit with friends on Sunday, January 25, 2015 from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia, Tennessee. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 26, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Williams Funeral Home with John Hayes and Charles Hardison officiating. Burial will follow at Neapolis Cemetery.

Margaret is survived by her son Jeff (Wanda) Rector of Columbia, Tennessee; grandchildren Mark (Jennifer) Rector of Columbia, Tennessee and Scott (Jodie) Rector of Lewisburg, Tennessee; great-grandchildren Shelby Rector, Caleb Rector, and Lauren Rector; and brother Jeff (Marguarite) Porter.

Pallbearers will be the Deacons of Beech Grove Church of Christ and Fred Porter.
