Mrs. Margaret Hayes, age 72, resident of South Main Street in Mt. Pleasant, passed away Sunday at her residence.
A memorial service for Mrs. Hayes will be conducted 2:00 PM Wednesday in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Paul Thompson officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Arlington Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
Born in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of the late Mason and Louella Dickson Phillips. She was the wife of 53 years of Earl Hayes of Mt. Pleasant. She was retired from the Mt. Pleasant Phosphate Museum.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children: Debbie Brewer of Lewisburg, Dolly Wendell Weaver of Mt. Pleasant and Kim K.C. Cagle Edwards of Columbia; grandchildren: Deidra Boswell of Lewisburg, Kara Horton of Columbia, Matthew Cole of Mt. Pleasant, Blaze Prince of Lewisburg, Brad Weaver of Mt. Pleasant and Brian Weaver of Columbia; great grandchildren: Aynaka Horton, Isaac Horton, Ian Horton, Frankie Boswell, Maggie Boswell, Tanner Boswell, Sutherlyn Cole, Judd Bullock and Lacey Prince. She was preceded in death by a brother: Leonard Phillips.
