Margaret Cox Blackburn

June 10, 1947 — April 2, 2008

Mrs. Margaret Cox Blackburn, age 60, a resident of the Nashville Highway, passed away on Wednesday, April 2, 2008, at Maury Regional Hospital.

Funeral services for Mrs. Blackburn will be conducted Saturday at 3:00 P.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Rev. J.O. Martin and Rev. John Rushing officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens.

The family will visit with friends on Friday from 4:00 – 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

The Williamson County native was the daughter of the late Delmar "Shorty" Cox and Mary M. England Cox. She was the wife of 46 years of Jerry Blackburn who survives. Mrs. Blackburn was a Certified Nursing Technician having worked at Maury Regional Hospital and NHC Hillview. Her last position was as a Production Worker at G.E. She was a member of the New Life Baptist Church of Columbia.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters: Shelia David Staggs and Susan McCrary, both of Columbia; three grandsons: Jerry Steven McCrary, Jonathan Lane McCrary and Jacob Daniel McCrary, all of Columbia; five sisters: Barbara Roberts of Columbia, Mary Lee William Dobbins of Pulaski, Sue Jerry Carroll of Columbia, Pauline Bruce Whitwell of Mt. Pleasant and Kathy Wayne Green of College Grove; five brothers: Donald Aline Cox of Columbia, Jerry Lloyd Spain Cox of Columbia, Larry Wayne Alma Cox of Hohenwald, Billy Joe Sherri Cox of Kingfield, TN and Terry Mary Cox of Spring Hill; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one brother: Daniel Cox.

Pallbearers will be Donald Cox, Jerry Lloyd Cox, Larry Wayne Cox, Billy Joe Cox, Terry Cox and Bobby Fox. Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons, David Staggs, James McCrary and the doctors and nurses of Maury Regional Hospital Critical Care Unit.
