Mrs. Marcie Ann Clifton Graham, age 73, resident of Columbia, passed away on Friday, March 11, 2011 at Life Care Center of Columbia following an extended illness.
Born October 23, 1937 in Loretto, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Woodrow Wilson and Odell Jaco Clifton. Marcie was the wife Thornton Graham of Columbia. She was retired as Cafeteria manager for Central High School after 18 years of service. Marcie was known around Maury County as the "cake lady" for her wonderful wedding cakes she made. Mr. Graham said Marcie and he built U.S. 43 Drag Raceway in Lawrence County. They started the Columbia Towing Service. Marcie and Thornton loved going to their camp on the Tennessee River and would trotline and catfish together. She attended Highland Park Baptist Church for many years, but was of the Church of Christ faith.
In addition to her husband of 56 years, Marcie is survived by a son, Lee Linda Graham of Middlebrook, Al; daughter, Leta Jay Graham Heavener of Hendersonville; two sisters, Wilma Franklin of Gadsden, AL and Dorothy Kelley of Lawrenceburg; and a brother, Frank Clifton of Lawrenceburg. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Randy and Michael Clifton.
Funeral services for Mrs. Graham will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, March 13, 2011 in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Rick Points officiating. Interment will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens.
The Graham Family will receive friends from 4:30 P.M. until 6:30 P.M. on Saturday at the funeral home.
