Mamie was born October 14, 1923 in Hickman County, Tennessee to the late Willam Henry and Hattie Cavender Malugin. Mamie was the wife of John Ed Allen for 68 years. She has been the best wife, mother and grandmother any family could ever hope for according to her husband. She loved giving special attention to her wonderful husband and family. She was a great cook and a member of Locust Street Church of Christ in Mt. Pleasant. Mamie and John Ed were longtime residents of Adam's Avenue in Mt. Pleasant.
Mrs. Mamie Allen, age 87, passed away Saturday June 4th at Signature Healthcare.
Funeral services for Mamie will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, June 7, 2011, in the chapel of the Williams Funeral in Columbia. The Allen Family will receive friends from 5-8 P.M. on Monday at the funeral home.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons: John E. Dorothy Allen, Jr. of Columbia and Billy R. Julie Allen of Raleigh, N.C.; one sister: Ruby James Potts of Columbia; her grandchildren: Donna Riley of Columbia, Sheri Rob Hill of Tamarac, FL, Elizabeth Dennis Hennessy of Hohenwald, John G. Brenda Allen of Columbia, Alisha Allen and Stephanie Jeff Meier of Raleigh, N.C.; six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Annie Mae Slaughter Williams and four brothers, Robert, Howard, Edward and Homer Malugin.
Pallbearers will be Andrew Hennessy, Dennis Hennessy, Matt Nelson, John G. Allen, Vance Belew, Bryant Belew, Eric Belew and Lucas Linam. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Gibran Naddy, Dr. William A. Robinson, Dr. Frederick Wade, Dr. Randall Davidson, the staff of Signature Health Care and staff of Maury Regional Medical Center Home Health.
