Miss Mackenzie Taylor Turner was born on April 1, 1997 at Centennial Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee, to Jean Ann Turner and Leroy High. She was the light of her mother's life and the two of them had a very special connection. Mackenzie was an exceptionally gifted student who was very involved in many extra-curricular activities at school. She had recently completed the eighth grade at Whitthorne Middle School and was about to begin classes at Columbia Central High School as a freshman. She had been a member of the Art Club, Reach Club and the Tiger Club.
Outside of school Mackenzie played fast pitch softball. She especially loved to play her guitar and sing. She would play for hours at a time for her beloved GanGan grandmother and she studied piano under Scott Burt through the Music Federation Club of America. She was a alumni of the Jr. National Congressional Youth Leadership Council, and was asked to represent her state in November. Mackenzie also enjoyed making and designing clothing. Her special cousin Rachel Jordan Turner was her personal model for the clothing she had designed and made. In her spare time she volunteered for the Maury County Animal Shelter.
Recently, Mackenzie had begun attending Destiny Church, in Columbia, and had accepted Jesus as her Savior and Lord.
On Thursday, July 28, 2011, Mackenzie went to be with Jesus when the van she was a passenger in was involved in an accident. She passed away immediately and did not suffer.
