"Mac" Mccall Alexander Carmichael

July 2, 2014 — December 20, 2015

McCall Alexander Carmichael leapt into the world on July 2, 2014. He did so in his own time, on his own “accelerated” schedule and with an adoring crowd of family awaiting his arrival. He charmed the masses in the NICU at Williamson Medical Center; and acquired several girlfriends before coming home to Brentwood.

Once home, MAC became the center of the universe for his mom and dad. He was snuggled, tickled, held, rocked and adored each and every day of his life. He was sung to, played for, and generally worshipped by an ever-widening circle of family and friends. Thankfully, his parents shared MAC with the world. They allowed his aunts to be his second mothers and his uncles to teach him neat tricks and flirting. He experienced so much in his brief life because his Mommy and Daddy allowed everyone to help raise him “just a little.”

He was loved and spoiled by the college girls at Lipscomb, Belmont and Vanderbilt. He was teased and cuddled by all of his Mommy and Daddy’s musician friends. He was hugged and kissed by all of the customers at both of the stores, and MAC was lovingly taught by the kind staff at Kindercare.

“MAC ATTACK” was rough and tumble. “MACKEY MACKERSON“ was gentle and kind. “MACARONI” loved his Ma-Ma and Da-Da. “MACARONUS” liked playing the “pinch” game. “MAC-ADOCIOUS” adored wrestling on the couch cushions. “MAC MAC” tore up some Waffle House. “HANDSOME” loved nothing more than to be snuggled on the chest of anyone who rocked him. “The WALLER-US” had an endless capacity for snuggling and “waller-in” around. “CHEEKS MCGEE” loved to be kissed on his chubby cheeks. Our boy was “SOME MAC.” He is our eternal “LITTLE BUDDY,””BUDDY, BUDDY,” and forever the cutest “WIGGLY SNOWMAN.”
We like to say that MAC was made of marshmallows and sugar because he was just that sweet and precious. He was not perfect…his Mommy let him get away with lots of mischief. All he had to do was flash those dimples. MAC loved the sound of his Mommy’s voice and performing for a crowd. His musical tastes were eclectic…from Jimmy Buffett to Nat King Cole to Johnny Cash. He spent seven and a half months backed by a four-piece band so he loved applause and people.

MAC loved dinosaurs (RAHR! RAHR!), the Georgia Bulldogs, Superman and the Muppets. MAC spent a lot of time in his birthday suit and squealing with delight (while a frazzled adult chased him through the house with clothes and a diaper). His favorite accessories were his “B-oots” and his rhinoceros hat. He was an awesome GONZO THE GREAT this Halloween. A grooming aficionado, MAC was not quite ready for the day until he had brushed his teeth with his Spiderman toothbrush and put on his Spiderman shoes.

He was a fan of OREOs, whipped cream (straight from the squirt can), and Italian style broccoli. He also loved lasagna and chocolate milk. MAC loved feeding the fish in his creek, dancing with THE MUPPETS, pillow fights, Mickey and Minnie Mouse, and his “bestest friend and cubsin,” Emery (Mem-ee). He loved his “DA-DA’s” guitars (Whoa, DA-DA!). He loved watching the world through his window, looking out on his Daddy’s shop.

MAC will live on forever. The MAC Carmichael Fund has been established to bring “MAC sized Miracles” to children and families who find themselves in need. MAC was “the most sensational, inspirational, celebrational, muppetational” little boy. We were blessed to have him in our lives and know that his life will continue to bless others.

MAC is survived by his loving parents, Brandi and Hunter Carmichael of Nolensville, TN; his grandparents John and Elaine Thornton of Folkston, Georgia, and David and Mandie Carmichael of Tifton, Georgia; his great-grandmothers Laura Whitfield, Ruth Thornton and Betty Carmichael. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, and cousins “real, and not so real” across the country. He was preceded in death by his Nanny Williams, his PePaw Whitfield, and his Grandaddy Carmichael who are loving on our special boy right now.

A Celebration of MAC’s Life will take place on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at Brentwood Baptist Church, 7777 Concord Road, Brentwood, TN. The family will receive guests from noon until 2:00pm. The service will begin at 2:00pm with interment to follow at Triune Methodist Church, 7906 Nolensville Road, Arrington, TN 37014.
