Mrs. Mabel Ellen Richardson Rich was born on June 20, 1915, in Giles County, Tennessee. She was the daughter of the late Lester Lee and Sara Thurman Richardson. Mabel was the wife of the late Fred Rich. She graduated from Cornersville High School. She taught special education classes at Whitthorne Middle School. Mabel was a charter member of the West End Baptist Church and charter member of the Heart to Heart at Maury Regional Hospital. In 1984, she became a member of the Maury Regional Auxiliary.
Mabel is survived by two sons, Freddie Kay Rich and Wallace Gloria Rich; a sister, Dorothy Lee; two brothers, Carl Richardson and Robert W. Patricia Richardson; grandchildren, Ricky Jamie Rich, Chad Amy Rich, Melanie Rich, Albert Rich, Stephanie Wesley Ricketts and Audrey Rich; great-grandchildren, Logan Moore, Dylan Wilson, Megan Rich, Chandler Dodson Rich, Chandler Lee Rich, Dinah Estes, Josie Estes, Chloe Rich, Jonathan Ricketts and Brooklynn Ricketts. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by, sisters, Mary Chapman, Mamie Cavnar and Helen Buchholz.
Mrs. Rich was 95 years old and was a longtime resident of Brookside Dr. For the last several years she had resided at Morning Pointe Assisted Living of Columbia. She passed away on Friday, January 21, 2011 at Maury Regional Medical Center.
Graveside services for Mrs. Rich will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, January 24, 2011 at Polk Memorial Gardens with Rev. Rick Esley officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the West End Baptist Church building fund, 900 W. 7th St., Columbia, TN 38401.
Active pallbearers will be Ricky Rich, Chad Rich, Albert Rich, Chandler Rich, Wesley Ricketts, Donnie Morrow, Randle Cavnar, Dylan Wilson and Mason Pugh. Honorary pallbearers will be residents of Morning Pointe Assisted Living, members of Maury Regional Auxiliary and all members of the West End Baptist Church.
Williams Funeral Home in Columbia is assisting the Rich Family with arrangements.
