Luther "Baby" Mangrum, Jr.
September 27, 1929 — June 7, 2009
Mr. Luther Calvin Baby Mangrum, Jr., age 79, a resident of Enterprise Road in Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Sunday, June 7, at Skyline Medical Center in Nashville.
Services for Mr. Mangrum will be conducted Wednesday at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Bro. David Kersey officiating. Burial will follow in the Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the US Army.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM and Wednesday from 12 Noon until service time at the funeral home.
Born September 27, 1929 in Maury County, he was the son of the late Luther and Kate Sutton Mangrum and the husband of the late Dorothy McKennon Mangrum. He was a retired foreman for the State Highway Dept., loved farming, watching wrestling and his 3 dogs, Blackjack, Casper & Willie. He was of the Church of Christ faith and a US Army veteran.
He is survived by his daughters: Madonna Osborne of Lynnville and Capree Mangrum of Mt. Pleasant; better half for many years: Diane Colvett of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren: Ethan Osborne of Lynnville, Richard Osborne of Mt. Pleasant; great grandchildren: Dylan Osborne of Summertown, Trenton Osborne, Peyton Osborne and Carson Osborne, all of Salem, AK; sister: Betty Green of Mt. Pleasant; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son: Luther Mangrum III; sisters: Faye Boshers, Virginia Jones, Brownie Adams and Joyce Crews; brother: Orville Mangrum; grandson: George Eli Osborne; son-in-law: Jerry Osborne
Pallbearers will be Larry Jones, Bill Jones, Tobie Green, Jack Colvett, Kurtis Moore and Rusty Colvett. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry, Maury and Pee Wee Colvett and the employees of the State Highway Dept.
