Mrs. Lucille Wales Pope, 88, a resident of Blocker Circle in Columbia, died Tuesday, August 16, 2005 at NHC/Hillview Health Care.
Funeral services for Mrs. Pope will be conducted Saturday August 20, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at the Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Reverend Henry Mobley officiating. Graveside services will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Ardmore, Alabama. The family will visit with friends Thursday and Friday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
The Limestone County, Alabama native was the daughter of the late Claudie and Lula Putman Wales and the widow of William A. Pope, Sr. Mrs. Pope was a retired machine operator for the Tennessee Knitting Mill and a long-time cotton farmer in Alabama. She loved flowers and reading her Bible and was a member of the Pentecostal Church of Jesus Christ.
She is survived by two sons, Michael Pope and special friend Yolanda Roberts both of Columbia, TN and James E. Pope of Los Angeles, CA; one daughter, Mavis Virginia Dickinson Dave Nims of Portland, OR; seven grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sons, William A. ?Junior? Pope and Wayne Jackson Pope; five sisters, Myra Black, Jane Scroggins, Floy Scroggins, Adie Black and Bertha Ashly; two brothers, Richard Wales and Robert Wales.
Pallbearers will be Shannon Michael Pope and men of the Pentecostal Church of Jesus Christ.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Pentecostal Church of Jesus Christ.
