Lucille King Carpenter

August 12, 1914 — December 4, 2011

Lucille King Carpenter was born August 12, 1914 in Mt. Pleasant, TN, the daughter of the late James King and Fannie Massey King. Lucille was the wife of the late Norman R. Carpenter who preceded her in death on February 26, 2007. She had worked for a number of years as a caregiver for the elderly. Lucille was a faithful member of the Riverside United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her brother-in-law, Shelby Sara Carpenter of Columbia and sister-in-law, Christine Pigg of Franklin; nieces and nephews, David Diane Carpenter of Spring Hill, Claire Tommy Vann of Culleoka and Patti Kent Freemon of Leiper's Fork; great nephews, Shelby Carpenter, Spencer Carpenter, Hunter Vann, Scott Vann and Will Freemon. In addition to her husband and parents, Lucille was preceded in death by her sisters, Minnie Luckett and Allene Farris and brothers, Vance King, Ewing King, Herman King and Hardy King.

Mrs. Carpenter passed away on Sunday, December 4, at Life Care Center of Columbia.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, December 17, at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Rev. Gary Wedgewood officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends on Friday from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be David Carpenter, Shelby Carpenter, Spencer Carpenter, Tommy Vann, Hunter Vann, Scott Vann, Kent Freemon, Will Freemon and Tommy Carpenter, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Frances Ann Grimsley, Dotsy Hight, Fay Hartsfield, John and Loretta Goodloe, Richard Matthews, Helen Easley, Mary Ann Hughes, Carolyn Potts and Richard Burkeen.

The family requests that memorial donations be made to the Riverside United Methodist Church, P.O.Box 392, Columbia, TN 38402.
