Mr. Loyd Eugene "Gene" Durham, 82, a resident of Overton Drive in Columbia, passed away Saturday at Maury Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services for Mr. Durham will be conducted Tuesday at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Bro. Curtis Dowdy and Rev. Ward Jones officiating. Military honors will be provided at the funeral home by the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19.Burial will follow in the Henryville Cemetery in Lawrence County.
The family will receive friends Monday from 5:00 to 9:00 PM at the funeral home.
Born May 17, 1927 in Lawrence County, he was the son of the late Jonah and Ermine Gresham Durham and the husband of Nettie Walker Durham. Mr. Durham retired was a kiln operator for Rhone Poulenc, a volunteer fire fighter for the Henryville Fire Department and he loved to travel. He was a member of Highland Church of Christ.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son: David Wanda Durham of Lawrenceburg; step children: Margaret Wells of Chapel Hill and Tommy Shari Stewart of Primm Springs; grandchildren: Scott Heather Durham, Lora Chris Cole, Troy Tammy Blackwood, Jenefer Sammy Pate, Heather Stewart and Adam Stewart; 9 great grandchildren; a brother: Bruce Durham and a sister: Vivian Ingram, both of Lawrenceburg. He was preceded in death by a grandson: Michael Durham and three brothers: James Lewis Durham, Bob Durham and Joe Durham.
Pallbearers will be Scott Durham, Chris Cole, Troy Blackwood, Sammy Pate, Calvin Durham and Greg Abbott
