Louise Chaffin

Emily Louise Goad Derryberry Chaffin, age 82, a resident of Zion Road in Columbia, passed away Saturday at NHC Columbia.

Funeral services for Mrs. Chaffin will be conducted Tuesday at 11:00 A.M. at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Rev. John Rushing, Rev. Frank Smith and Murray Derryberry officiating. Burial will follow in the Arlington Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 –8:00 P.M. on Sunday and Monday at Williams Funeral Home, in Columbia.

Born on March 7, 1927 in Maury County, TN, Mrs. Chaffin was the daughter of the late Josh and Juanita Edmiston Goad and was the wife of William "Bill" Chaffin of Columbia. Mrs. Chaffin was a graduate of Jones High School in Lynnville. She retired from the Tennessee Department of Safety issuing driver's licenses and worked at Maury Regional Hospital as a Nurse's Aide, she also worked for Dr. Carl Gardner and Dr. William Fuqua. Louise loved traveling with her husband William and at the age of 52 , she soloed in her first airplane. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband she is survived by two sons: Steve Tammy Derryberry of Caney Springs and Andy Betty Derryberry of Flint, Michigan; grandchildren: Lee Derryberry of Lewisburg, Tanner Derryberry of Caney Springs, Brian Derryberry of Michigan, Wendy Williams and Jana Tyler of Canton, MI; great-grandchildren: Madison and Nathan Derryberry of Lewisburg and Emily Williams of Canton, MI. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Tyler, one sister, JoAnn Hanson and a brother-in-law, Jim Hanson.


Pallbearers will be a son, Andy Derryberry, grandsons, Lee Derryberry, Tanner Derryberry, Brian Derryberry, nephews, Murray Derryberry, Troy Derryberry, Guy Derryberry and friend Jerry Phares.

Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Tomlin, Jim Lester, Everett Parton, members of the Lead on Sunday School Class of the Northside Baptist Church, Margie Boshers and Jean Phares.
