Lori Ann Baughman, age 70, answered her call while surrounded by family November 4, 2022. Lori was born February 19, 1952 in Lansing, Michigan to the late Ricahrd Krokker and Kathryn Berry Krokker.
It is with very heavy hearts we share that this world lost an amazing Momma, Wife, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, and Friend! Back in August, Lori was diagnosed with a rare brain cancer (glioblastoma). She underwent brain surgery and a combination of Radiation and Chemotherapy for 6 weeks. The disease and treatments took a heavy toll on her body. Robbing her of so many things, ability to talk as freely as she once did, ability to get around on her own (from walking to driving), and so much more. Yet she never once complained and still took each day as it came. From the moment she received the devastating news about her diagnosis she had an incredible demeanor of being at peace with whatever God's plan would be for her.
Lori's faith and love of and spending time with Family and friends are what she valued most in life. Lori and her husband Jim shared a journey of love and laughter for more than 36 years. Lori loved reading, cooking and spending time in the yard. She had an amazing flare for decorating a home. Standard home décor would be nothing short of emulating the BEST of Pottery Barn ads. Her most favorite season could be evidenced in the transformation of their home into a Christmas wonderland mirroring the Hallmark movies she loved to watch.
Lori had a flare for fashion, always dressing in the hippest style and she had impeccable taste in jewelry. She loved to experiment with her hair; cut and color, and only God knows what the original color was! Lori's sense of humor kept us all laughing and she could dish the jokes as well as she could take them.
Lori had a heart of caring and service that extended beyond family and friends. So it is no surprise she gave 35+ years of service to first responders in several states across the country as a 911 operator and was the first woman dispatcher for Delhi township Fire Department in her home state of Michigan.
Her presence here on earth will leave a hole in our hearts that can never be filled. However, we know she is now at peace and is elated to be reunited with her parents and brother and you can be certain the banter and laughter are not in short supply.
A service to honor and celebrate Lori's life will be held on Monday, November 7th, at 2:00pm (CST) in Columbia, TN at Williams Funeral Home.
Lori is survived by her husband Jim Baughman; children: Patrick (Carmen) Brown and Megan (Steve) Herald; grandchildren: Mari (Jake) Moyer, Elaa Brown, William Brown, Alexa Herald, Breanna (Robert) Ross, Delaney Herald, Kylie Herald, and Avery Herald; great grandchildren: Peyton, Mila, Heidi, and Blakely; siblings: Ann (Mike) Barnick and Mary Voss. Lori is preceded in death by her brother: Jeffery Krokker.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in the name of Lori Baughman to the American Cancer Society.
