L. O. Cates, age 64, a resident of Hamilton Hill Road in Lynnville, passed away Monday, August 11th at Maury Regional Hospital.
Funeral services for Mr. Cates will be conducted Thursday August 14th at 11:00 A.M. at the Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Rev. Terry Golden and Rev. Daniel Whatley officiating. Burial will follow in the Lynnwood Cemetery.
The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 5:00 to 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Born in Lawrence County, he was the son of late Lucious Ollie and Rosie Fralix Cates. He was the husband of Barbara Dooley Cates. Mr. Cates was a retired framer and carpenter for Cates Custom Construction.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his children: Darin Cates, Lynn Cates and Teresa Cates all of Lynnville; six sisters: Alice Golden of Columbia, Shirley Doug Graham of Memphis, Rebecca Smith of Lawrenceburg, Roxie Fralix of Pulaski, Gethel Mahlon Russell of Columbia, and Linda David Taylor of Fairview; three brothers: Jeff Cates of Columbia, Bobby Faye Cates of Buchanan, GA and GlenJoyce Cates of Lynnville; grandchildren: Brandon Cates, Michael Lynn Cates, Olivia Cates, Dee Anna Cates, Devin Cates, Catrena Cates, Dylan Cates, Lonette Cates, Tabitha Dillehay, Andrew Gray; one great-grandchild;: Jaylin Hill. He was preceded in death by a sister: Eunice Adams.
Pallbearers will be Lynn Cates, Darin Cates, Greg Golden, Jerry Golden, Dan Whatley, Tim Golden, David Presley, David Childress and Mike Childress.
