Lisa Layne

Lisa Layne passed away peacefully on August 25, 2024, in her home in Mount Pleasant, Tennessee. Born on July 19, 1969, to the late Nathan and Betty Chapman in Columbia, Tennessee. Lisa lived a life filled with love, compassion, and a deep connection to her community.

Lisa had a special place in her heart for the Amish community with admiration for their way of life. She had a passion for travel, with Cancun holding a special spot as one of her favorite destinations. Whether exploring new places or tending to her cherished rose bushes at home, Lisa found joy in the beauty of the world around her. Her green thumb was well-known, and she took great pride in her garden, especially her roses, which she nurtured with the same care and devotion she gave to her family.

She is survived by her loving husband, Michael Layne; her devoted sons, Mark Morton (Mary Kay) and Adam Morton (Courtney); and her adored grandchildren, Aaron, Gracelyn, and Isaiah Morton, who brought her endless joy. Lisa was also a cherished sister to Bonnie Chapman and brothers Larry Chapman (Brenda) and Nathan James Chapman (Debbie). Her niece, Melinda Sanders (Greg), held a special place in her heart. Lisa is preceded in death by her parents, Nathan and Betty Chapman; her brothers, Charles and Buddy Chapman; and her nephew, Neal Kelley.

Pallbearers will be Tim Chapman, John Chapman, Kenny Davis, Chris Chapman, Aaron Morton, Isaiah Morton, and Greg Sanders.

Lisa's life will be celebrated with a visitation on Thursday, August 29, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Williams Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, Tennessee. A service to honor her memory will be held on Friday, August 30, 2024, at 2:00 PM, with Terry Chapman officiating. Lisa will be laid to rest at Spencer Hill Cemetery in Mount Pleasant, Tennessee, where she will be surrounded by the beauty of nature she so deeply loved.
