Linda Jane Meyer

Linda Jane Grooms Meyer, age 62, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at her residence.

Linda was the daughter of Harold Edward Grooms and the late Jessie Dugger Grooms, and was born on March 4, 1952 in Maury County, Tennessee. She worked at General Electric in Columbia for twenty years. Additionally, she worked as a cook at Rosewood Manor Nursing Home. She was the beloved wife of Tom Meyer, having married him on August 29, 1997.

She loved plants and gardening. She always seemed to have more plants than could physically be planted and could never seem to get enough beautiful living things. She also had a love for exotic birds and enjoyed fishing with her husband. She loved her pets and had several dogs and cats. She was always taking in animals, deriving guilty pleasure by sneaking them in on her husband Tom.

Mrs. Meyer is survived by her father: Harold Edward Grooms of Mt. Pleasant; beloved husband: Tom Meyer of Mt. Pleasant; daughter: Dana Crumley of Columbia; grand-daughters: Alizia Benderman of Mt. Pleasant and Ali Jackson of Franklin; sister: Vicky Bowie of Mt. Pleasant; nephews: Terry Green and Jerry (Lavada) Green of Mt. Pleasant; and niece: Stephanie (Steven) Boshers of Mt. Pleasant. She was preceded in death by her mother: Jessie Dugger Grooms and her son: Williams Michael King, Jr.

Funeral services for Linda will be held on Friday, May 30, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with interment to follow at Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends on Thursday, May 29, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Jimmy Henson, “Rabbi” Henson, Randall Pruitt, Steve Pruitt, Ronnie Dugger, Wayne Dugger, Glen Overstreet and Randy Eastep will serve as pallbearers.
