Lillian Hayzell Pope

February 19, 1930 — August 15, 2010

Mrs. Lillian Hayzell Cole Pope, age 80, resident of Mockingbird Drive in Columbia, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ surrounded by her family, on August, 15, 2010 at Maury Regional Medical Center following an extended illness.

Funeral services for Mrs. Pope will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, August 17, 2010 in the chapel of the Williams Funeral Home of Columbia with Rev. Timothy Atkisson and Rev. Dennis Owens officiating. Interment will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 4:30 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Monday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, Middle Tennessee Chapter, 1818 Patterson St., Nashville, TN 37203.

Born February 19, 1930 in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of the late Henry Luther and Zula Hodge Cole. She was the wife of Rev. Albert Pope of Columbia. She had previously worked for Highland Park School in the cafeteria. She was a baby sitter and also a sitter for the elderly. Her love and passion for life was working along side her husband for over 50 years in the ministry. She was a member of the Pentecostal Church of Pulaski.

In addition to her husband, she was survived by two daughters, Patsy Jerry Grimmett of Columbia and Sandra Joe Gilbert of Pulaski; a son, Terry Pope of Columbia; three brothers, Grady Cole of Fayettville, Leo Cole of Mt. Pleasant and Charles Cole of Lawrenceburg; three grandsons, Jeremy Regina Pope of Ardmore, AL., Bruce Keisha Gilbert of Lynnville and Jonathan Pope of Murfreesboro; two granddaughters, Becky Shane Willoughby of Columbia and Kim Carl Holly of Pulaski; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Jean Pope, a son, Jerry Wayne Pope, a grandson, Joey Gilbert, a daughter-in-law, Patricia White Pope and five brothers, Loyd, L.V., J.C., Glen and Pete Cole.
Active pallbearers will be Jonathan Pope, Bruce Gilbert, Jeremy Pope, Carl Holly, Leo Cole, Jr. and Shane Willoughby. Honorary pallbearers will be a very special friend, Sarah Jenkins, members and previous members of the Pentecostal Church of Pulaski, Dr. Moataz Toban and nurses in the ICU unit at Maury Regional Medical Center.
