Lewis Anderson, age 91, passed away at Signature Healthcare in Columbia, Tennessee Monday, November 24, 2014.
Lewis was born in Columbia, Tennessee January 15, 1923 to Thomas Bailey and Mattie P. Hayes Anderson. Lewis married Maybelle Lamar on November 6, 1943. Lewis was an active member and deacon at Pleasant Mount Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Fountain Heights. He was a longtime farmer and retired from Dairyman Inc. in Lewisburg, Tennessee. Lewis was referred to as an expert gardener and enjoyed preserving the fruits and vegetables, which he raised in his garden. His knowledge and love for flowers was evident in his yards.
The family will visit with friends Friday, November 28, 2014 from 12:00-2:00 p.m. at Pleasant Mount Cumberland Presbyterian, 1620 Fountain Heights Road Columbia, Tennessee 38401. Funeral service will follow the visitation at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. William Roleman, Jr. officiating. Interment will be at Pleasant Mount Cemetery.
Lewis was preceded in death by his parents Thomas Bailey and Mattie P. Hayes Anderson; wife of 46 years, Maybelle Lamar Anderson; sisters, Clara Mai Erwin and Pauline Anderson; and brothers, John Beecher Anderson, Thomas Vaden Anderson, William Morgan Anderson, and Paul Anderson.
Lewis is survived by his daughter, Amy Brewer of Alabama; grandchildren, Glenn (Sherry) Brewer and Vickie Winkles; great grandchildren, Brianna (Ben) Saint and Lyndsey White; great grandchildren, Alicia Wallace, Ashley Wallace, Desireree Wallace, and Madison Wallace; siblings, Thomas Bailey Anderson, Jr., Curtis (Judy) Anderson, and Louise Anderson Uzzell; and many nieces and nephews.
The family extends appreciation to the staff of Signature Health Care and NHC Hillview for excellent care and loving support.
