Leatrice Brewington

Leatrice Brewington, age 82, passed away at the home of her daughter in Hendersonville, Tennessee on Wednesday, June 12, 2013 after living for several years in Columbia, Tennessee.

Leatrice was the daughter of the late Walter and Dessie Gassaway and was born in Gassaway, Tennessee. She was a registered nurse and worked in a nursing home from many years. Her daughter, Linda, remembers that her mom-ma was an angel and a single mother who took great care of her children. In addition to being the best cook ever, she made sure to spend lots of quality time with her children. She especially enjoyed playing in the yard with them, cooling them off with the spray of a water hose. She also provided for all their needs and bought them special treats.

Leatrice is survived by her daughter: Linda Sue Merritt; brother: Earl Gassaway; grandchildren: Jason Gulley and Carrie Brewington; and her great-grandson: Davis Carson Gulley. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two children: Rose Ann Kirby and Jimmy White Brewington.

The family will celebrate Ms. Brewington’s life privately at a later date.
