Mrs. Leah Anne Sughroue Hallmark, 48, a resident of Rock Springs Road in Columbia, died Wednesday, May 14, 2003 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

The Funeral Mass for Mrs. Hallmark will be recited Saturday, May 24, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Catherine Catholic Church with Reverend Patrick Connor officiating. The family will visit with friends Friday, May 23, 2003 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Williams Columbia Funeral Home. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Irish Grove Cemetery in Davis, Illinois.

The Freeport, Illinois native was the daughter of Francis Eugene Sughroue of Dakota, Illinois and the late Doris Elaine Lee Sughroue who died in 1992. She was the wife of John Hallmark of Columbia. She graduated from Dakota Community High School in Dakota, Illinois and with honors from Southern Illinois University with a degree in Industrial Technology. She served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam era in which she was one of seven women that were classified as a Missiles Systems Analyst Specialist. From 1980-1995 she was affiliated with General Electric Corporation with various assignments in Louisville, Kentucky and Bridgeport, Connecticut. She has been a substitute teacher with the Maury County School System and served as president of PTSA at Spring High School. She was also an advocate for matters concerning the Maury County Schools. She served as head referee for the Maury County Soccer Association and was active in the affairs of St. Catherine Catholic Church.

In addition to her husband and father, she is survived by two daughters, Jessica Mackenzie Hallmark age 16 and Angela Nicole Hallmark age 14 both of Columbia, TN; a son, Scott Brenton Hallmark age 18 of Columbia, TN; a stepdaughter, Liberty Ann Hallmark of Columbia, TN; a step son, Ryan Eugene Hallmark of Erie, PA; two brothers, Bert Sughroue of Davis, Il and Bart Sughroue of Illinois; a granddaughter, Gabrielle Elaine Hallmark of Columbia, TN; a step granddaughter, Abigail Debera Hallmark of Erie, PA; several nieces and nephews.
